- Reconcile your AIR and AlP for the year ending December 31 (if self-employed) on Insert D. Also record your updated inventory on Insert D
- Any partnership changes? Record on Insert D
- Do you pay union or professional dues? Place receipts in Sleeve C
- If you pay tuition for your child's education, place the receipts in Sleeve C. The cost is usually declared by the student, however, the cost can be claimed by the parent if the student/child has minimal income and transfers the costs to the parent
- If you are, or have a disabled dependent, be sure to have your doctor complete the medical form T2201 and place in Sleeve C. Helpful hint: This form should only be required once.
- Do you have revenue property? Place revenue receipts in Sleeve E. Helpful Hint: If you lose money because you are renting a property to a relative for a lower rate than you would rent to other tenants, you cannot claim a rental loss, AND all expenses may be disallowed
- No income? Be sure to file a nil return anyway to collect any tax credits ie: GST and CTB
- Even if you cannot pay your taxes at this time, be sure to file anyway. Helpful Hint: You will save the penalty charges just by filing
Tax filing deadline is APRIL 30 !!
